So that was it, then. We were through. It was at this point, about four months after "Adrift" officially released, that I had to make a choice. Was I personally going to let this small little film defeat me, or was I going to rise and prove to myself that I could do this?

I have come to realize that I am my own worst critic, too absorbed in the minute details to see the broad scope of what happened: a near miss at a good, solid film.

I thought that in my career, I would look back and laugh at the mistakes I made early on. I assumed those laughable mistakes were behind me, resting peacefully with the likes of "The Door." I thought wrong.
